College Auxiliary Services (CAS) at SUNY Plattsburgh is hiring for the role of Controller, a wide-reaching, senior level position.
The Controller reports directly to the Executive Director, and supervises two positions - our Accountant and Student Services Specialist, along with a dotted line to our Administrative Assistant.
This role works closely with each leadership team member of the CAS staff, as well as other campus constituents in several different areas.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication and project management skills, as well as an extensive financial background.
CAS is a separate, nonprofit entity from the University with the sole mission of providing essential services to the campus community.
We manage campus meal plans and ID cards, act as the fiduciary agent for the Student Association, oversee vendor contracts, and run Valcour Inn & Boathouse and Twin Valleys Educational Center, among other necessary student services.
*Responsibilities Include:*
_Financial Operations:_
* Responsible for the overall financial management of CAS, including maintaining internal controls, banking and cash management functions, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, fixed asset management and project management.
* Managing our annual audit and tax return process.
* Managing fiscal agent services for campus agency accounts and the Student Association.
_Budgeting & Meal Plans:_
* Creating and managing the annual development of the CAS budget
* Managing the meal plan adoption process including student billing, reconciliations, portal configurations and administration
* Collaborating with the Executive Director on strategic business plans
_Administrative:_
* Serving as the system administrator for CAS software applications, developing processes and managing support.
Systems include Microsoft Dynamics GP and Management Reporter, ResNexus, Expedia, Atrium, IDMS
* Reviewing and evaluating CAS vendor contracts and new business initiatives
* Supervising direct reports and providing necessary training
* Responsible for PCI compliance, SUNY compliance and statutory filings.
* Serving as an ex officio member of the CAS Board of Directors, and the following sub-committees: Investment Committee, Audit Committee and Finance Committee.
*Required Qualifications:*
* A bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a related field
* A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in financial roles
* Demonstrated experience with managing and developing teams
* Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting and advanced Excel functions
* Demonstrated experience administering various technology platforms
* Exemplary attention to detail with strong communication and project management skills
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* A master's degree in accounting or a related field
* Prior nonprofit and/or higher education experience
* Experience with Banner and Microsoft Dynamics GP
