The Capital City of Montpelier, Vermont (pop.
8,000) is seeking a responsible and independent individual to provide permit assistance to the public, administrative work for the Department of Planning & Community Development, and to manage small programs for the City.
The person will report to the Director of Planning and Community Development and work closely with the Planning and Zoning Administrator, Community & Economic Development Specialist, and the Building Inspector.

The P & Z Assistant handles administrative support for the permit process, manages the departmental operations, and performs other duties such as being the City’s E-911 coordinator and FEMA- CRS (Community Rating System) Coordinator.
The position involves regular contact with the general public, department personnel, and staff in other City departments.
Having experience in a position working with the public is important.
A degree in land use planning or related field and/or demonstrated experience in land use related issues is preferred.
Having the ability to read plans and drawings related to construction projects is also important.
This is a full-time, classified position (Grade 5) within the City with a starting pay rate between $26.
25/ hour to $27.
58/ hour with an excellent benefits package.
