Posting Summary
Provide technical assistance and support for translational research related to childhood leukemia in a Pediatrics/Biochemistry laboratory.
Engage in hands-on laboratory research and analysis in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, microscopy, and functional genomics.
Perform experiments with appropriate guidance, collect and analyze data.
Record research findings and maintain research records.
Report research findings to supervisor through written documentation and oral communication.
Interact extensively with scientists within the UVM Cancer Center.
This is a fund-limited, one year position.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a closely related field with experience that may range from the classroom laboratory to one year related experience is required.
A successful applicant will specifically have experience in the culture of leukemia cells, and will be independently able to conduct western blotting, immunofluorescence, chromatin immunoprecipitation and qPCR experiments.
This is a limited, one year position.
As such, a successful applicant will have a knowledge of leukemia biology and experience in leukemia-directed research, specifically including the biology of CALM-AF10 translocated acute leukemia and the Wnt signaling pathway.
Successful applicants will have experience in experimental design considerations when working with chromosomal translocations in acute leukemias.
This is critical, given the time limitation of this position, and the need to independently contribute to experimental design and analysis on this specific project.
Effective communication, analytical, organizational and time management skills required.
Desirable Qualifications
Anticipated Pay Range $20 to $23/hour

This is a fund-limited, one year position.
Anticipated pay: $20 to $22/hour.
Actual hiring pay dependent on comparable campus peer(s) at time of hire, and candidate’s experience level and length.
