Summary
City Market Co-Op is seeking a Beer & Wine Buyer to order, receive, and stock product for the Beer, Wine, and Cider sub-departments of the Grocery Department.
This position supports department objectives for sales and margin by assuring acceptable inventory levels, verifying invoice accuracy, and updating cost information in SMS.
The Beer & Wine Buyer also participates in routine department tasks such as stocking, rotation, cleaning and quality control.

Day-to-Day Duties
· Develop and maintain good relationships with vendors in order to obtain quality merchandise and identify new products; participate in vendor tours.
· Maintain an adequate inventory of product to cover fluctuating sales needs without over-ordering, taking advantage of buy-ins as appropriate.
· Adhere to all order deadlines and prioritize orders so that they are submitted in a timely fashion.
· Implement promotional, monthly, and other sales goals as directed by the Grocery Manager and Purchasing department.
· Maintain credits, mispicks and damages under the direction of the Grocery Manager.
· Work collaboratively with department stockers to ensure that the Dry Goods sub-department is well stocked and faced with customer convenience as a priority.
· Ensure costs and retail prices are updated in SMS.
· Ensure accurate signage by communicating pricing and signage discrepancies to Purchasing department.
· Communicate regularly with Purchasing department about vendors and new and discontinued products.
· Communicate regularly with Grocery Managers and Shift Leads about changes in order size and timing.
· Maintain organized and effective ordering and inventory procedures and files.
· Exhibit an awareness of ordering decisions through receiving, stocking, and merchandising.
· May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Two years of buying, receiving, or beer/wine retail experience required OR 3 years of retail experience required.
· High School diploma or GED required.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
· Knowledge of natural and conventional foods and the food industry preferred.
· Experience with POS or inventory management software preferred.
