Orleans Central Supervisory Union is seeking a full-time Health Services Coordinator and School Nurse.
The ideal candidate will provide leadership for our nursing staff within OCSU to have continuity of school health services from pre-K to 12 and consistency among schools and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
As a school nurse, the ideal candidate will provide all students with school health services and function collaboratively with principals to promote a healthy school environment.
Strong organizational and documentation skills are necessary.
Orleans Central Supervisory Union comprises seven towns (Albany, Barton, Brownington, Glover, Irasburg, Orleans and Westmore) located in the heart of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, a scenic and rugged area of hills, sugarbushes, farmland and lakes.
Our schools are situated between Burke Mountain and Jay Peak and in proximity to Kingdom Trails, Willoughby Lake, and Crystal Lake.
Qualifications: Registered Nurse, State of Vermont Current Vermont Educator's license with either a school nurse or associate school nurse endorsement At least five years of clinical experience in school nursing Current First Aid and CPR certificationCoordinator Functions and Responsibilities: Promotes and supports professional practice and growth among OCSU nurses Supervises staff nurses as members of the OCSU Health Services Team Consults and collaborates with OCSU nurses on student health issues Acts as resource on health issues to the school community Acts as a liaison between the school community and area medical service providers Prepares budgets, state reports action plans and provides in-service training as neededSchool Nurse Functions and Responsibilities: Develops and implements Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Medical Emergency Plans (MEPs) Develops and implements protocols for medication administration, first aid responses to acute illness/injury, chronic illness management and communicable disease control Procures, maintains and updates health records Ensures the documentation of all nursing interventions including student/staff health office visits, and communication with parents, health care providers and school staff as it relates to student health Acts as a mandated reporter for suspected child abuseThe work schedule and salary will be consistent with the Teacher Master Agreement: https://docs.
